Iran, 2001. Female journalist Rahimi (Zar Amir-Ebrahimi) from Tehran immerses herself in the worst-reputed neighborhoods of the holy city of Mashhad to investigate a series of femicides. As she draws closer to exposing his crimes, the opportunity for justice grows harder to attain. Based on the true story of the 'Spider Killer' Saeed Hanaei, who saw himself on a mission from God as he killed 16 women between 2000 and 2001.
He was born in Tehran, Iran. He is the author of several short stories published in Persian. In 2002 he settled in Stockholm, Sweden, to study Architecture. Later, he enrolled at the Danish Film School where he trained in Directing. His first feature film, Shelley, premiered in the Panorama section of the 2016 Berlinale. Border (Gräns) was his second feature film, with which he won the 2019 Un Certain Regard Award, was nominated for an Oscar for Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling, and also had its premiere in Latin America at José Ignacio International Film Festival 2019.
