BIOGRAPHY
Oliver Laxe lived in Paris until the age of six and grew up in Galicia. He traveled to Tangier in 2007, where he founded a filmmaking workshop for at-risk youth and shot his first feature film, Todos vós sodes capitáns, which won the Directors’ Fortnight Award at Cannes in 2010. His career continued to rise with Mimosas (2016), a ‘minimalist religious western’ featuring non-professional actors that received the Grand Prize of the Critics’ Week at Cannes. In 2019 he premiered O que arde, winner of the Jury Prize in the “Un Certain Regard” section and presented in Uruguay at the José Ignacio International Film Festival. Sirât is his latest feature film.
