JIIFF LAB is an industry space created to provide guidance and connections for feature film projects in the development stage. It is specifically aimed at emerging directors and producers from Ibero-American countries and Italy seeking to consolidate their projects for an effective international co-production policy.
JIIFF LAB is an in-person event that will take place in José Ignacio, Maldonado, Uruguay, from January 18th to 21st, 2024.
The JIIFF LAB organization will select six (6) Ibero-American or Italian projects represented by a total of twelve (12) participants (6 director-producer duos). Of these selected projects, at least two (2) will be from Uruguay.
WHO IS IT FOR
- This call is aimed at partnered emerging directors and producers with an advanced-stage fiction feature film project from Ibero-American countries and Italy. The main production house must be Ibero-American or Italian.
ELIGIBILITY
For Producers:
- The applicant must be the producer.
- They must have been born or be a resident (for a minimum of 3 years) in any Ibero-American or Italian country.
- They should have produced a minimum of one (1) feature film and a maximum of three (3) feature films, of which at least one must have participated in an international festival and/or project laboratory spaces.
- They can apply with more than one project but can participate in only one of them.
- They must have an advanced level of English and Spanish.
For Directors:
- They must have been born or be a resident (for a minimum of 3 years) in any Ibero-American or Italian country.
- They should have directed a minimum of one film (short film and/or feature film) and a maximum of two feature films.
- Of the films directed, at least one must have participated in an international festival and/or project laboratory spaces.
- They must have an advanced level of English and Spanish.
The deadline for applications is December 8, 23:59 hs.
INSIDE JIIFF LAB
- The laboratory will take place between January 18th and 21st in a face-to-face format in José Ignacio, Uruguay. It will consist of tutorials with international experts, so both the producer and director commit to attending in person when applying.
- The focus will be primarily on script and production design, financing and co-production policies, project design, and pitching.
- After the tutorials, a pitching session will take place.
In parallel to this activity, WORKING JIIFF motivates and creates various networking opportunities among attendees of JIIFF LAB, GENERACIÓN J, UNDER 30, and other spaces at the José Ignacio International Film Festival.

SELECTED PROJECTS
- Through the participation of IBERMEDIA, the selected duos are granted a scholarship which includes accommodation, meals, and additional expenses associated with their participation in JIIFF LAB.
- WORKING JIIFF covers accreditation and access to exclusive events of WORKING JIIFF and JIIFF.
- Selected participants must take care of their transportation from their location to José Ignacio. The organization of Working JIIFF is available to provide guidance on these transfers.
CONSIDERATIONS
The information provided in the registration form will be included in the communications and official catalogs of WORKING JIIFF.
Registration is free. The selection of projects is the responsibility of the JIIFF LAB organization. If selected and deemed necessary, the organization may request additional documentation.
By applying, the applicant agrees to these guidelines and commits to participating in JIIFF LAB in person if selected. They must confirm their attendance within 1 week of receiving the email notification; if not, another project will be selected.
Selected participants, when submitting their projects to other calls or upon completing the film, must include the JIIFF LAB and WORKING JIIFF logos and the text "Selection JIIFF LAB / WORKING JIIFF 2024".
Additionally, they must include the IBERMEDIA Program logo for obtaining the scholarship.
The only registration method is by completing the form, and only projects submitted within the call deadline will be considered.
