ABOUT THE AWARD
"It is the second consecutive opportunity that I have the pleasure of holding the JIIFF Award, with minor modifications. It is a work with multiple old wooden rods glued together, thus forming the shape that represents the festival, 'the snail'. It is a pride for me to be part of this international festival, and that the work is for the person who stands out among others for his abilities. It's an award to me!"
Montevideo, 1979. Plastic artist. Motivated and captivated by the nobility of wood, he manages to transform, through recycling wood that is more than 100 years old, works of great visual impact. The work crosses between the artisanal and pictorial, classical European and Uruguayan constructivist, the playful, legacy of Torres, neoconstructivist and artisanal, reusing elements and discards.
