Welcome to the 14th edition of JIIFF!

This year, we bring you seven international feature films and five Uruguayan short films, all in competition and exclusively premiering in Uruguay at JIIFF's screen. We say it every year, but this time we feel it especially: the selection for the 14th edition makes it a very special year.

The screenings will take place in locations in José Ignacio that express the uniqueness of each place: the traditional Bajada de los Pescadores, the beloved Pavilion VIK, and the novelty of this year, Bodega Oceánica José Ignacio. The annual curation of JIIFF engages in a special dialogue with these spaces, and we encourage you to discover these beautiful spots.

Each screening will be a cinematic memory of summer, and, as in each edition, the audience will choose the winning film of the Feature Film Competition through their votes, voted at the end of each screening. As for the Short Film Competition, this year's jury consists of Argentine filmmaker Paula Hernández, Uruguayan filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter Rodolfo Sayagués, and Chilean filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter Dominga Sotomayor. They will be responsible for awarding the December Prize, which includes a trip to the Cannes Film Festival.

All screenings are free of charge. The scheduled days at Bajada de los Pescadores and Bodega Oceánica José Ignacio do not require prior reservation; we recommend bringing blankets and beach chairs. Screenings scheduled at Pavilion VIK do require advance reservation as it is an enclosed space with limited capacity. Starting from January 6th, we will gradually open reservations for the films scheduled there.

In 2024, the activities of Working JIIFF are also established, reflecting our perspective and understanding of cinema as both art and industry: building audiences, seeking new voices in Uruguayan fiction cinema, and constructing and strengthening Latin American and international alliances. Additionally, the film workshop for kids "Corte!" returns, aiming to introduce the younger audience to cinema in a playful yet formal way.

Welcome to a new year at the José Ignacio International Film Festival.
